Most of our programmers at a May, 2023 meeting outside of the station.

For 50 years WGDR/WGDH has broadcast to central and northern Vermonters. In the spring of 2021, Goddard College gifted the station to the community by way of CVCR to manage. Under community ownership, the station’s mission shifted to put community first, by serving the people of north central VT and beyond; to provide a forum for cultivating social change that re-harmonizes human communities with the natural world, supports the independent arts and celebrates diversity, creativity, and freedom. We inform, entertain, and educate through the presentation of alternative news, artistic expression, and public affairs programming.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that WGDR/WGDH is located and broadcasts across the unceded and traditional land of the Abenaki Peoples’ past and present, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations.

Inclusion & Diversity Statement

WGDR/WGDH fosters a culture of diversity in programming and content, governance, management, practices, and policies and shall bring together people of diverse backgrounds. The CVCR board, staff, programmers, and volunteers will be reflective of our diverse community, and as a station embrace equity, inclusion and diversity as powerful elements that make our station better.

For 48 years, WGDR, Plainfield at 91.1 FM and since 2011, WGDH at 91.7 FM operated as a hybrid college/community radio station supported both by Goddard College and local community programmers. In May of 2021, Goddard College gifted the station's ownership to Central Vermont Community Radio (CVCR).

Managed by CVCR, the station is led by the founding board of directors and key volunteers, with plans to have paid staffing by the end of 2021. Special appreciation to Kris Gruen, David Ferland, and Carl Etnier for their support and advice, and for operational assistance during the transition at no cost, which made the move to new ownership seamless to listeners.

Programming is currently made up of over 50 local volunteer programmers and dozens of additional volunteers to help keep the station going. Our local programs reflect the unique and independent spirit of the Central Vermont community. During COVID, most of our programmers have continued to produce fresh, locally made content remotely from their homes.

The station is located in the basement of the Eliott Pratt Center Library on the campus of Goddard College at 123 Pitkin Road in Plainfield, Vermont.
