Our Spring Fundriveโ€ฆMost Donors Ever!

As of 3/23 we raised $23K, from a record number of donors, especially folks who stream us online. Holy cats folks! Itโ€™s the people, not just the funds, that make this station possible. Way to show up in both ways.

Because of you, community stays at the heart of everything we do. It keeps us local, independent, and focused on you.

From all of us here at CVCRโ€”thank you so much.

Read more about the fundrive success here!

Once again, the community has stepped up during our Spring Fundrive.

Wow, folks, once again you set records:

  • A record in most donors ever give during a drive: 251. Yes, that is the number of towns in Vermont, lol! We only had 500 donors total last year, so this is huge.

  • Another record with 104 streamers giving. That is double our goal of 53.

  • 59 listeners became new donors. Way past our goal of 53.

  • 13 listeners became new sustainers.

These records in donors are big for our future. It means as we increase listeners, we are also increasing donors. That is how we sustain this station!

As of March 23, we are at just about $23,000. The big goal was $25,000, but folks, with money so tight for all of us, getting this close is a win. Thank you all for giving what you couldโ€”some of you gave more than once! We see you, we appreciate you!

The day after a fundrive is a great time to also show our big, big gratitude to everyone who makes this place so special:

  • Thank you to our 65 programmers who poured their hearts into their shows, many doing longer or extra shows to keep us live and local for an extra 100 hours during the drive. You heard live music, special guests, karaoke, great music themed shows, bad advice call in shows, and so much more. Thank you to all who put the FUN in the fundrive!

  • Each drive we also give out a โ€œFundrive MVP (Most Valuable Programmer) Awardโ€ to thank the person(s) who stepped up in extra fun and drivin' ways. Congrats to Maura Quinn - host of Though Pasture and co-host of Quilting Hour - for showcasing the energy, the excitement, the engagement with fellow programmers in cross talks, and the many extra radio hours that helped inspire other programmers raise the bar for their shows and listeners to give. Thanks, Maura!

  • Everyone who gave to programmer show pages. Those notes you left folks raise spirits and remind folks why their shows matter. Thank you!

  • Our matching donors during this drive. With $8,000 in matching gifts, this made a huge difference! Thanks to our many generous anonymous major donors and to our underwriters Black Bear Biodiesel, Center for Arts & Learning, Buffalo Mountain Coop, Mad Taco, and Jakeโ€™s Carpentry and Painting, LLC.

We are back to normal programming this week! Phew!

You didn't miss your chance to give either. If you have the means to make a hero gift to get us the rest of the way to $25K, weโ€™d love ya forever (still will even if you donโ€™t give!).

March 6-22, tune in for two weeks of extra great local programming. Hear special guests, live music, and lots of surprises. With your support we will raise $25K. Go community radio!

With your support, we will raise $25K for your favorite community radio station.

First, we have some BIG NEWS! As you know we plan to raise a new WGDR antenna on a new tower this May. This will finally add the valleys of the cities of Barre and Montpelier to our broadcast reach at 91.1 FM. For 53 years we've been barely static in these spots. Now, we will reach 20K more Vermonters - wow! The news is the FCC approved the construction permit, so it is game on for May. Now, we need to make sure the programming you love is ready to go too - and fully funded - through this spring fundrive.

To be ready to turn it up for this moment, we need your help to crush our $25K annual Spring Fundrive goal to keep our local programming rolling.

Make a gift by March 22, by clicking the blue donate button (PayPal, Venmo, Credit Card) or send a check to CVCR and mail to WGDR at 123 Pitkin Rd. Plainfield, VT 05667. A gift today helps us continue to grow our listenership - on the air and online - so that more folks can have free access to local programming --- no paywalls, no subscriptions, no ads, AI, or algorithms.

๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ”” Our Cowbell Goals ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ””

  • 26 new sustainers

  • 53 streamer donors

  • 53 new donors

โญโญโญ Give To Your Favorite Show โญโญโญ

The new station sticker this year will be sent to every donor who gives $53 or more!

This fundrive, all our local shows will have their own show pages, with a goal to raise $91. If you love a certain show, let that programmer know it by donating to their page. You can also give to the station in general. Thank you!

โ€ผ๏ธFundrive Match Days & Shows โ€ผ๏ธ

Double your impact by giving to the station when a match is running. Matches are larger gifts from friends of the stations, sponsors, or underwriters to help motivate donors to give on a certain day (kick us off or help us reach the final goal) or who are new to the station.

This spring, we have $7K in matches spread out across the fundrive.

  • Kick Off Weekend Match from Underwriters: $1,375

  • Sunday mornings 7-10am, "Curse of the Golden Turnip" Match: Up to $2,750 made possible by generous major donors.

  • Newbie Match: Any new donor or new sustainer gift will be matched: Up to $1,250 from our generous CVCR Board.

  • The Last Weekend Match from Underwriters: $2,228

Special Curse of the Golden Turnip Ts are an incentive for any donor to that show on Sunday morning who gives $100 or more. They are limited, so give soon and leave a comment for your shirt size.

๐Ÿ“ป Even More Local Programming ๐Ÿ“ป

If you've ever heard our fundrives, you know you are about to get evenmore of our fantastic local programming. Tune in for special guests, live music, and more. It is how we put the FUN in fundrive. Special schedule line up is at WGDR.org.

Did you know, only 10% of listeners actually give to the station?! Make this the fundrive you start giving with. It will feel great!

  • The biggest impact you can have as a donor on the station is to become a sustainer. Just like your streaming services, add your beloved community radio station to the mix for as little as $5 a month. Remember if you give online, "skip the tip to Give Butter!" That doesn't come to the station.

  • Canโ€™t afford to give. Thatโ€™s ok! Please help spread the word and encourage your friends to give or help introduce us to new underwriters and sponsors! Learn more and how to give here.

Make a gift today!

  1. Give by Check: When you give or pledge a check online at WGDR.org you can leave us a message about your favorite shows or why you love WGDR & WGDH. This is what you hear programmers read on the air as part of our gratitude for you all! Choose "check" and enter your information. Then, send that check made out to โ€œCVCRโ€ and mail it to WGDR/WGDH, 123 Pitkin Road Plainfield, VT 05667. Thank you!

  2. Give online: By credit card, PayPal, Venmo, or other digital wallet options. Click the box on the upper right donate button. Pick an amount or enter your own. Look for the tab at the top for "one-time" or "monthly."

*For digital gifts, when you complete the donation, you will be asked if you want to cover the credit card processing fee or us (optional!) and a tip (to GiveButter, the platform), that tip is optional and does NOT come to us. Click the drop-down box for that and choose "$0." to skip this tip!

3. Text to donate: WGDRDONATE. A link will pop up and you can give securely.

After you donate, your donation, name (if you want), and note will show up in the community donor scroll at the side of this page. Thank you so very much.

CVCR Contest Rules
