‘QUIET STORM’ WINS FISHBOWL RADIO AWARD
When Radio Goddard’s smooth jazz/R&B program “The Quiet Storm” went national last year, its creator and longtime host, Skeeter Sanders, had no idea how well his show would be received by listeners outside Vermont.
He knows now, however: Just a year after making its national debut on the Fishbowl Radio Network, “The Quiet Storm” became an award winner for the first time in its 14-year history. It was named FBRN’s 2012 Long-Distance Show of the Year at its annual “Sharky Awards” ceremony in Dallas on Saturday, September 22.
The award, in the category of programs produced outside of the network’s home base in Dallas, was bestowed on Sanders’ show by a combined vote of FBRN’s program directors, fellow DJs and listeners from across the country.
While Sanders was aware that his show was a nominee for the award, he was surprised to learn that he had won. “I’ve always been my own sharpest critic when it came to judging the quality of my show,” he said. “So I’m very gratified to know that there are a lot of music fans out there who really appreciate it.”
