Saturday Afternoon Jazz
Daniel Marcus
Saturdays
2:30pm - 4:30pm

A program of classic, straight-ahead jazz; jazz from the 40's, 50's and 60's mostly. Music by jazz giants such as Miles, Billie Holiday, Trane, Monk, and Dexter Gordon as well as lesser known musicians of the era such as Wynton Kelly, Art Farmer and Hank Mobley. We also feature newer artists performing jazz in the same spirit of creative improvisation, from Kenny Garret to Anat Cohen. From time to time we throw in some traditional jazz too: Lewis and Fats and Sidney Bechet. We do special programming; programs spotlighting guitar jazz, vocal music and individual artists, occasional interviews and, in the future, live jazz.

Daniel Marcus lives in a solar house in Plainfield with his wife Amba and a Very Small Cat name Swee' Pea. He has been listening to jazz most of his life; the first record he ever bought was a 45 of the Vince Guaraldi Trio.
