Our programs feature conversations with Living Luminaries and Mavericks and music that inspires the best in us. The show is geared to an audience interested in healing the human psyche and society and everyone is welcome and encouraged to listen in.The transdisciplinary nature of our programming stimulates a creative synthesis of understanding, as we engage with a vast variety of specialists and generalists who are all working for the greater good: artists, researchers, activists, authors, wisdom figures and heroic individuals of all kinds.

Our goal is to present cutting-edge research, visionary perspectives, and real-world solutions that inspire listeners to open their minds, take heart, and transform society.
What is a LIVING HERO? That is an explorer, pioneer, maverick, brave heart who is offering new pathways of thought, knowledge and action to help and serve others in the here and now.
Historically and conceptually, what has been considered and celebrated as heroic is, perhaps, both too partial and too superficial. Our culture is in need of new definitions of honor and what it means to be a hero.
In contemporary life, people who effectively take a creative and unconventional path, who find ways to resist that which is destructive, unwholesome or lacking in integrity are to be considered heroic and visionary. The forces and messages that condition people towards desensitization, narcissism and fragmentation are powerful and pervasive. And so those working for the holistic well-being of people and society are doing some of the most heroic work of our times.
“Cultivating the heroic imagination involves just two aspects. First, thinking of yourself as an active person rather than a passive person: thinking of yourself as somebody willing to get involved; to move off the safety spot of minding your own business; to take a decisive action when the world around you looks the other way. Second, thinking less about yourself, less about your ego, your reputation, less concerned about looking foolish, making a mistake . . . more concerned for the well-being of others . . .”
~ Philip Zimbardo We offer this series of conversations towards an enlarged concept of what it means to be a living hero, towards drawing connections between forces deep in the human psyche and contemporary geopolitical reality, and to provide fresh thoughts and visions for a more enlightened present and future.
Our mission is four-fold. We exist to:
• Serve as an antidote to apathy, alienation, dehumanization and fragmentation through interesting and entertaining programming.
• Address common concerns of global humanity via dialogues across disciplines and music that inspires reflection, gives pause, and arouses solidarity.
• Support the mission of each Living Hero and to build connections among the discoveries and works of these contemporary pioneers in the sciences and humanities.
• Help our audiences embrace a creative synthesis of understanding that leads to personal change and social action.

Listeners steer this show with their questions and reflections, and are encouraged to participate. Alan usually starts the morning with some music (which doesn’t make it, intact, onto the web-posted podcasts) and works his way into full-on discussion mode by the time Bob’s weather report comes around.
